Source Inspiration Of Female Dominance
In this class, Anne O Nomis examines "source inspiration" of Female Dominance, through history and culture, including:
Dominant Goddesses & Priestess Initiates (with evidence of Dominatrix rituals in Inanna cult of Mesopotamia, images of Mistress of Animals, and snake-wielding Goddesses or priestesses in Crete, and victorious sex Goddess - Venus Victrix)
Matrilineal & Matriarchal culture (outlining evidence of matrilineal culture in prehistory from DNA evidence in sub-Saharan Africa, to inferences from sculpture and art such as “Venus figurines”, and modern-day matrilineal culture and what it looks like when women are "in charge")
The Power of Women in Art (as a literary and artistic topos - topic or place. These included Biblical stories - Judith beheading Holofernes, Samson and Delilah, Salome and her mother Herodias, Jael killing Sisera, Bathsheba bathing in sight of David, the idolatry of Solomon to his wives’ religious worship. They also include the popular historical theme of Phyllis riding Aristotle, and genre images of “wicked wives” dominating their husbands.)
Locating models and traits you wish to draw inspiration from, where you locate your own inspiration of female sexual power. (From mythology, ancient Goddesses, from historical women, female artists and authors, literary characters, celebrities, rock stars, film and TV characters or real-life women, and more. And what is it about these women that resonates with you?)
